The new Force Tempo Traveler minibuses launched by BEST has been confirmed to ply on city feeder routes.
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has introduced first of its kind AC mini buses aimed at last mile connectivity. While six buses were handed over today to BEST by Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, officials have disclosed that 400 such buses are to be inducted in batches.
The red colored buses have a seating capacity of 21 seats in 2x2 layout with a wide gangway that can accomodate an additional seven passengers to stand and travel. The buses will be diesel powered and are likely ply on feeder routes in the city.
According to sources, the buses has been allocated to Colaba depot and will operate on short routes from CSMT and Church Gate on peak office hours and on other longer routes otherwise. A few buses will feature "conductor-less" facilities on select office going routes.
The buses have been acquired on wet lease for a period of seven years.
